I'm Lbat1901 and I'm your host on all Eddsworld related discussions both good and bad.

It hasn't been more than a week since I've posted my thoughts after the whole drama surrounding the ew crew died down.

I thought things couldn't get any worse for the crew, but something unexpected happened.

On July 12th, Bing announced that the official Eddsworld discord server will become a Patreon only server. Yes, you heard that right. A Patreon only server.

Everyone who saw the news completely reacted negatively to it. It was so bad that a 6 hour cooldown was enforced onto the main chat channels mostly the general-chat. It was very unpleasant to watch.

Listen, I have nothing against Patreon only servers, but turning a server that was public for everyone to begin with into a pay to chat with other people is a scummy move especially when it's a official Eddsworld server.

It would've made so much sense to make a separate server for the people that support the Patreon but no, Bing and Matt clearly didn't think long and hard about it before making a final decision.

Also, it should be worth noting that there are mods, mostly two very active ones, that work extra hard to moderate the server meaning that they get stressed out easily.

Bing, Matt, if your current mods are having trouble running things smoothly than why didn't you bother to get more mods. The more mods the better.

Did Bing and Matt seriously forget that the fanbase mostly consists of minors, mostly teenagers that don't have an allowance or a job meaning that they can't become a patron.

"But the cheapest tier is only £5"

Well yeah, it is, but there's an issue. There are literally people out there that can't afford £5 and there is no way that a minor's parent is going to agree and let their child be a patron

TL;DR: This whole turning the Eddsworld discord server into a Patreon only server is honestly a really bad move. That's just my opinion.
